On the Fineline's grip is a small, blue LED light to indicate status, as well as a single button used to link the stylus to your 3rd-generation-or-later iPad (including the iPad mini and mini with Retina Display). A micro USB port at the top of the stylus allows for charging the Fineline's battery with the included cable. Unlike the aluminum-clad Adobe Ink and Slide combo, the Fineline's part-plastic (grip), part-aluminum (body) construction doesn't look or feel particularly premium, but it doesn't feel cheap, either. The Fineline is very comfortable to hold and use thanks to its light, 0.81-ounce weight. Since 1982, PCMag has tested and rated thousands of products to help you make better buying decisions. It comes in blue, pink, orange, white, or metallic gray. Measuring 5.93 inches, it's slightly longer than the average Bic pen, and feels much wider, too, measuring in at 0.41-inch in diameter at its thickest point where you grip the stylus. But that simplicity reflects its intended functionality as a note-taking stylus. Wacom's Fineline version of its Bamboo Stylus line looks like a slightly larger, regular pen, with few features to distinguish it from other pens you may have on your desk. And it showed the least lag of any stylus we've tested so far. The Fineline is an iPad stylus that's better at its single, intended function compared with styli designed for a combination of tasks, like Adonit's Jot Touch. When you need to jot down a reminder, note, or idea, and you also need to draw out your idea in a doodle or diagram, Wacom's Bamboo Stylus Fineline ($79) could be the answer-just as long as you don't write in cursive.
